Cleaning Tips
- Use a baby wipe to remove small milk stains from carpets.
- Always damp wipe TV screens and buff dry with a clean dry cloth as
polish will attract dust.
- Unless it gets a heavy use, do not polish wood furniture more than
3-4 times a year. Use a polish recommended for the kind of finish. Too
much polish may build up a cloudy film; wipe off polish before it dries
completely. Do not mix types of polish. Oil causes wax to become gummy.
Clean the furniture surface thoroughly before polishing.
- When removing stains from carpets always choose the appropriate cleaner
and blot the stain out never rub as this will make it bigger.

- Always read the label before using chemical.
- Never mix chemicals.
- Always use the appropriate chemical for the job in hand. For example
toilet cleaner for the toilet bowl and not hand basins.
- Never store chemicals on a high shelf.
- Always ensure you have a COSHH assessments for each chemical.
- Ensure all assessments are in a prominent place where staff can access
them. In the event of an accident they contain first aid measures.
The safe use of Electrical equipment
- Always unwind the entire cable to prevent a dangerous power surge.
- Always check the cable and plug are free from damage.
- Change the bag in vacuums regularly to ensure they do not over heat.
- Never use a machine outside that is not suitable for outside working.
- Never leave a piece of dangerous equipment for someone else to use.
